13-14 July 23

Shark Awareness Day circles around annually on 14 July. My special sharks tie was designed by Melissa Rinaldi, daughter of my good Berea friends Laura and Ralph Compton. Melissa "creates beachy and bright custom artwork" at Go Coastal Studio in Jupiter, Florida. It's also World Chimpanzee Day but I don't have a chimp tie.

For Shark Awareness Day (14 July) I wore my sharks tie! According to SeaWorld, "There are more than 500 different shark species, and according to experts, the overwhelming majority are harmless to humans." And you can always remember the mantra from "Finding Nemo," where the sharks learned that "Fish are FRIENDS, not food!" My tie was created by the artists at Go Coastal Studio (Jupiter, Florida).

Today started out being Mona Lisa Day, for the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci's model. But when I discovered that this is National Megalodon Day I had to switch to my SHARKS tie. The Megalodon species was the most massive shark that ever lived! "The Megalodon swam the Earth’s oceans for 20 million years during the Cenozoic Era. Their mouths spanned 8 to 11 feet wide and were filled with rows of sharp teeth. With a bite force of over 40,000 pounds per square inch, a maximum weight of over 60 tons, and serrated teeth measuring near 7 inches, their prey did not stand a chance." Today is celebrated as National Megalodon Day, honoring the opening in 1978 of the Aurora Fossil Museum in Aurora, NC.

It's Shark Awareness Day! My tie was a gift from my friend Laura Compton, featuring art work by her daughter Melissa Rinaldi, dba Go Coastal. The book "Gilbert the Great" tells a story of friendship between Gilbert and some fish, similar to the theme in Finding Nemo that, for well-behaved sharks, "Fish are Friends, Not Food."

Gilbert the Great is here to help me celebrate Shark Awareness Day! The shirt in the background identifies me as "Papa Seeds Shark," matching other shark-shirts in the family. And my sharp shark tie is a special gift from our friend Laura Compton, featuring artwork by her daughter Melissa Rinaldi. In unrelated news, today is Tape Measure Day, marking the 151st anniversary of the patenting of a spring-stop winding mechanism.
