It's National Winnie the Pooh Day! Author A. A. Milne was born on 18 January 1882. The first Pooh book, When We Were Very Young, was published in 1924. In terms of commercial value, only Mickey Mouse is more valuable than Winnie-the-Pooh. My tie shows the Disney images of Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit and Eeyore. I think Christopher Robin and Piglet are off to a picnic.

Ninety-seven years ago yesterday (14 October), A. A. Milne published "Winnie-the-Pooh." My tie shows all the main characters in the Hundred Acre Wood, as depicted in the Disney animations.

Happy Winnie-the-Pooh Day! It's celebrated on A. A. Milne's birthday (1882-1956). My tie shows Winnie, Tigger, Rabbit and Eeyore (from the Disney animations). We don't know where Piglet, Kanga, Roo and Christopher Robin went today.

It's Donkey Day (Âne, 15 Vendémiaire) on the French Republican Calendar. (It was invented after the French Revolution to produce a calendar that avoided references to religious and mythical figures. This date was associated with the well-known farm animal.) I'm wearing my Winnie-the-Pooh tie that features Eeyore along with Pooh, Tigger and Rabbit. In Ernest Shepard's illustrations for A. A. Milne's books, Eeyore is shown in gray, and his tail is attached to his body with a nail. In Disney's later animations he is also shown in gray. He is blue in some commercial merchandise.

Today's tie celebrates Winnie-the-Pooh and the other characters from the Hundred Acre Wood. I found no special occasion for 21 August, so I'm remembering our great fun watching the movie "Christopher Robin" about two weeks ago. I urge all my friends to see how Winnie and Piglet and Eeyore help Christopher Robin get through a midlife crisis. (Note: the tie photo is from January 2017. But I really did wear that tie today!)

Today is International Children's Book Day! Tigger, Pooh, Roo and Eeyore are glad to be here with me, but whenever I wear this tie they wonder what happened to Piglet and Christopher Robin.

Yesterday was the birthday of A. A. Milne, creator of the Winnie-the-Pooh stories. He was born in 1882 and died in 1956. My tie's design is based on the cartoon figures created for the Disney animations.

Happy Birthday, cousin Elizabeth Michaels! Our mothers were sisters, Rachel and Ethel York. In my childhood years we knew each other as "Betty" and "Genie." We haven't met in person for over 50 years but Facebook has helped us regain contact. To celebrate her birthday (which was on Sunday) she asked for a teddy bear tie, and we settled on my Winnie-the-Pooh design!

January 18, 1882 marks the birthdate of A. A. Milne, children's book author and teller of stories about Winne-the-Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga, Roo and Christopher Robin. And of course there's also Eeyore, who is always sure he will be forgotten.

October 11 is Take-Your-Teddy-Bear-to-Work Day. I didn't actually go to work today, but I "served" in the choir at Nicholasville Presbyterian Church. My Pooh-and-friends tie is the only one in my collection with a "teddy bear." Pictured with me is Miss Buffington, my own stay-at-home secretary bear. She is pointing at the thumbnail drawing of Winnie-the-Pooh on the tie.

Today is Winnie-the-Pooh Day, marking the birthday of Alan Alexander Milne in 1882. I know that the characters displayed on this tie come from the Disney animated stories, rather than from Ernest Shepard's original drawings. If you can find a tie featuring the "real" Hundred Acre Wood and/or Christopher Robin, I'll be glad to wear it next year.

Tomorrow (Dec. 5) is the birthday of Walt Disney, who was born in 1901. This tie has pictures of four of the Pooh characters from the Disney animated stories. Piglet and Owl are missing, possibly in memory of the "very blustery day" when Piglet got whooshed into the air and blown into Owl's house. Eeyore is very surprised that anyone would want his picture on a tie.

I chose one of my Winnie-the-Pooh ties today, because the weather forecast about the remnants of what had been Tropical Storm Fay had me thinking about the famous Pooh video "The Very Blustery Day." It wasn't actually very blustery, but Tigger was bouncy anyway.
