On the French Republican Calendar (used briefly from 1793 to 1805), the date we know as 4 December was named 14 Frimaire, "Sapin," to honor the fir tree. Each day in that calendar was named for a plant or crop, a farm tool, or a farm animal. My tie with many decorated trees has a secret button that chirps "Silent Night." Happy Fir Tree Day!
For the fourth Sunday in Advent 2024 I wore my Christmas trees tie that includes a sound chip that "chirps" the melody from Silent Night.
Today's date is numerically interesting -- 11/12/22. It shares uniqueness (haha) with the 12th of November, written month-first, as the only dates this century with three ones followed by three twos, which can't happen with any other sequential digits unless you like the reversed pattern for 11/10/00 (which was actually in the twentieth century). My ties celebrate the JOY of the third Sunday in Advent 2022. The Christmas trees tie is special because it contains a musical chip that chirps the tune of "Silent Night." The holly bow tie belonged to Dad Wollenweber.

Today is the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, sponsored by the United Nations. I'm choosing to celebrate the fourth day of Advent with my tie showing cartoon Christmas trees, and the tie includes a music button to chirp the melody of "Silent Night."
