For National Crayon Day I'm wearing my Crayola® tie, on a shirt whose color corresponds with the "official" color Vivid Tangerine. You can get your own Crayon Day Coloring Pages from this Crayola site. Surely you have a box or bag of crayons somewhere? Do you say "cray-awn" or "craown"?

Did you do your coloring for National Coloring Day?  Beth does a lot more daily coloring than I do, using apps like Happy Color. But we love watching our grandchildren use all sorts of pencils, markers, paints, crayons and mobile apps to bring color to life. My tie shows crayons!

 Today our granddaughter Evelyn is THREE YEARS OLD! I offered her a bunch of ties from my collection, and Beth says she instantly oohed for this one featuring Crayola® crayons. She looked at the rest but settled easily on the bright colors.

It's National Coloring Day! I watched my granddaughter do some coloring-book and freestyle coloring this morning. She easily identified the colors on my tie and then used matching crayons.

Mallie Jayden Elizabeth Kleppinger is SEVEN YEARS OLD today! When she looked in my closet to pick a tie for today, she very quickly settled on this Crayola Crayons design. Then she noticed my shirts and said very happily that she wanted me to wear "that purple one." So of course I am following my first grandchild's directions!

When Beth gave me this tie for Father's Day this year, she included the fact that today (24 November) is the birthday of Edwin Binney (1866-1934), of fame from "Binney and Smith®," original marketers of Crayola® crayons! The company began in 1903, and continues producing crayons near Easton, Pennsylvania, not far from my own home town of Bethlehem.

Many events happened on this day in history, of course! It's the birthday of philosopher John Locke (1632-1704) and musician Wilhelm Hieronymus Pachelbel (1686-1764) (elder son of Johann), the patent date for the zipper (1893), and the date when Michael Farady discovered electromagnetic induction (1831). For me that collage of "multicolored events" is topped by having lunch today with 4-year-old Nathanael David Howland Kleppinger! So I'm wearing my new "crayons" tie, a Father's Day gift from Beth. From the tag on the back of the tie I learned that the "Serpentine" squiggle in Crayola's logo is part of their trademark!
