I have no special occasion today, except to note that Rhode Island became the first state to outlaw slavery, on 18 May 1652. Beth recently joined a local knitting group called Slow Stitch, needlecrafting together on Monday afternoons. She knitted this tie for me in 2013. I've worn it mostly around Christmas but I think it's worth showing any time.

This is the second-last day of work at EKU for 2021, and I'm double-tied! Beth knitted this zigzag tie for me 8 years ago, and the felt holly bow tie came from Dad Wollenweber's wardrobe.

I think you know that about 1/365.25 of the world's population was born on 11 April. That includes many famous people! But I found no individuals to associate with my ties, so I'm wearing this unique (shall I say "utterly unique"?) knitted zigzag tie! Historical trivia: 11 April 1954 has been identified as the Most Boring Day in the 20th century -- according to an analysis of data about 300 million noteworthy events.

It's Peculiar People Day! I don't think I need to say anything more about wearing my hand-knitted zigzag tie. I might explain that the red and green stripes are appropriate because it is still Christmas season at our house, because we our family Epiphany party is scheduled for this coming Friday.

Fourth Sunday in Advent 2015 -- also called Christmas Sunday -- celebrating "Joy"! This tie was knitted for me by Beth in 2013. I received many compliments on it today, especially from other knitters!

There are not many working days left before Christmas, so I have to fill up the days with my holiday ties! This one was knitted for me by Beth last year. The little tree is the one we use to hang our Advent calendar daily ornaments (from the Metropolitan Museum of Art!).

Today is the 5th Day of Christmas! My unique zigzag tie was knitted by Beth, and the story behind my tie clip is wonderful: Jonathan and Courtney had a large square silver pendant engraved with Mallie's initials, and then had it cut into nine pieces for sharing; one piece from the letter K was crafted into a tie clip for Papa Seeds!
