Dr. Seuss (Theodore S. Geisel) would be 122 years old today! My tie is inspired by "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish," and it can be reversed to show "The Cat in the Hat"! I'm quite certain that The Cat will Come Back next year on this date. Besides "Green Eggs and Ham" and "Horton Hears a Who," one of my personal favorites from Dr. Seuss' stories is "Hooray for Diffendoofer Day!" which was completed after his death by others, using his drawings and story outline.

 It's Father's Day! I chose this tie because Beth gave it to me for this day in 2011. It shows the fish and the words from Dr. Seuss' celebration of "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish." But there are also yellow fish and green fish, so I'm wearing it on my new green shirt. My tie bar says PAPA SEEDS because that's what my grandchildren call me -- based on the pet name "Seeds" my sons created for me.

 Here's my Dr. Seuss tie featuring some counted and colored fish! (And it keeps a secret Cat in the Hat on the reverse side!) I think every day should be a great day for children's books, but yesterday was the annual celebration of Young Readers' Day.

 The second Tuesday in November is always Young Readers Day! I'm celebrating with my one-fish-two-fish-red-fish-blue-fish tie. I doubt I will be with any young readers today but I do regularly read books with them, and it's wonderful when they will read to me!

Yesterday (2 March) marked the 115th birthday of "Dr. Seuss" (Theodore Geisel). My tie features the title characters from "One fish two fish red fish blue fish"!

Theodore Geisel was born on 2 March 1904. Publishing books as "Dr. Seuss," he became famous for helping many millions of children learn to read and enjoy books. My own personal favorite is "Horton Hears a Who!" but I will happily share any of his stories with children or adults. My tie celebrates counting, colors, and smiling!

April 2 (yesterday) is the annual International Children's Book Day, sponsored by the International Board on Books for Young People. The date is chosen to honor the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875). My tie is special because it is reversible -- the other side has The Cat in the Hat!

Today is "International Children's Book Day," honoring the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875). My tie is for "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" by Dr. Seuss, but it also has a reverse side featuring The Cat In The Hat!

Today marks Bastille Day! The storming of the Bastille prison on this date in 1789 marks the beginning of the French Revolution. The bleu and rouge fish on my tie go with the white shirt in honor of the French flag. I first heard about the French Revolution when I was about 9 years old, through the satirical song by Allan Sherman, You Went The Wrong Way, Old King Louie. The first lines go like this, sung to the tune of the Marseillaise: "Louie the Sixteenth was the King of France, in 1789. He was worse than Louie the Fifteenth; he was worse than Louie the Fourteenth; he was worse than Louie the Thirteenth; he was the WORST, since Louie-da-First." (As a complete pacifist I cannot actually celebrate the violence of any war, though I understand what compelled the French to revolt against one form of absolute tyranny.)
