This evening we are attending grandson Branston's "graduation" from preschool. He will be a strong voice in the group song "We're Moving Up -- To Kindergarten!" My shirt and hair tie for this occasion are in his favorite color (green), and my tie is covered with brightly colored hand prints from small children!

Today's tie celebrates the birthday of Émile Jaques-Dalcroze (1865-1950), a major star in music education. His development of eurhythmics, which became known as the Dalcroze method, teaches you to "experience musical concepts in a playful manner and use your entire body as a musical instrument." Imagine the hands shown on my tie being used to create rhythm and all sorts of interesting music!

Today's math: 23 - 2 = 21. With no special occasion to celebrate, I'll take this chance to show off a new-to-me red tie covered with brightly-painted hands! It's a "Save the Children®" tie, and the design says "Lend a Hand -- Beth, Age 11." We helped 18-month-old Evelyn show her hand for comparison. One very special feature is the new tie clip, a present from Courtney, bearing a golden script "K" that belonged to my mother (as a brooch).

(I do know that it's G. F. Handel's birthday on the "Old System" calendar, and it's also International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day. I wore my tie that shows some dog biscuits twelve days ago.)
