Happy Birthday, Jonathan Sikora! Jonathan and I have worked together to manage EKU Blackboard since 2015. He asked me to wear my sailboats tie this year, because he and Vicki "have been doing some sailing classes in preparation for a trip we are going to take in the fall." This birthdate also belongs to my father Arthur Jeremiah Kleppinger (1916-2004) and my friend Allan Durand Stephens (1940-2010). The first Friday in June is always National Doughnut Day -- did you get your free donut at Dunkin' Donuts?

Today I'm wearing my sailboats tie, to help celebrate my sister Faith Lang's birthday (yesterday). Faith loves sailboats, both for watching and boating. She told me that "I learned when we lived on a lake in Florida. Just a tiny boat. And when we camped on the Outer Banks I went out on a catamaran."

A few weeks ago I found this excellent sailboat tie (labeled "Rainbow Fleet") in a special sale from ties.com, and so I had to search for an appropriate occasion to wear it. Tonight is the opening reception for "Sailing Leadership Forum 2020," a major training event sponsored by the United States Sailing Association. Tomorrow through Saturday, the conference events (on the Pacific coast at San Diego, CA) include keynote addresses, sailboat training workshops, breakout sessions and vendor exhibits. Sounds like fun! But I'll stay home in Kentucky and enjoy my tie. I suppose I should have worn a "tack" . . .
