When I asked David Haskins to choose my tie for his birthday (today), he wondered if I had any ties related to a superhero, and we decided that SPONGE BOB fit the requirement perfectly! He has NERDYPANTS rather than square pants today.
Sponge cake lovers out there probably know that August 23 is National Sponge Cake Day, but this was news to me! I know that Sponge Bob is actually a (imaginary) sponge, but he acts like a fruitcake, so this tie is appropriate.
This is the second day of the 2010 Kentucky Convergence Conference, and I'm presenting a workshop called "Put Blackboard In Your Pocket," about using Blackboard with iPads and iPhones. It's a very nerdy topic!
This was Inauguration Day for President Barack Obama. I don't have any photos of my tie for this day, but I wore an electric-blue tie on a bright-red shirt, covered by my ivory-colored "Making History" sweatshirt with images of buildings from Washington, DC. (Nobody seeing me could guess that the tie actually features SpongeBob Nerdypants, as shown on 28 August 08.)
