26 December 25

Today's mushrooms tie was chosen by Amanda, who has worked at the front desk of Silver Creek Animal Hospital. Tomorrow is her birthday! When she told me about her choice she added that "I have a large mushroom tattoo on my right shoulder."

Happy Birthday, Beth! She asked me to wear my mushrooms tie because she likes mushrooms and I had not worn it in a while. For her birthday dinner she ordered the famous portabello mushroom sandwich from Papaleno's in Berea. We celebrated on Sunday with a super-chocolatey ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.

12 October 22

This coming Saturday, 15 October, is National Mushroom Day. I have this wonderful mushroom tie, so I need to find a good day to wear it -- but Saturday is not a "tie day" for me! We like to eat mushrooms on pizza, in salads, stir-fried with vegetables, in quiches, and as a topping for burger patties. I am not familiar with the multicolored varieties on my tie!

For National Mushroom Day (sponsored annually by The Mushroom Council) I'm wearing my mushrooms tie. I like mushrooms on pizza, in salads and soups, and in all sorts of baked dishes. I will admit that I don't pay attention to the rich, wide variety out there.

16 April 20

It's the Day of the Mushroom! For details and recipes, see the Mushroom Council Web page. I'm going to be a "fun-guy" and wear this new tie featuring all sorts of mushrooms. (By the way, we are aware that the word fungi is plural. Today we hope everyone will enjoy some tasty fungus-among-gus.) If you want even more fun, you can extend this celebration through 27 April, which is Button Mushroom Day (Champignon, 8 Floréal) on the French Republican Calendar.
