 For Ash Wednesday I'm wearing an ashen-gray plaid tie on an ashen-gray shirt. The annual Lent Madness "tournament of saints" begins tomorrow. One of the contestants this year is Nicolaus von Zindendorf (1700-1760), known to me principally as the founder of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Somewhat better known people in the field of 32 are Johann Sebastian Bach, Dorothy Sayers and John Donne.

 I'm taking advantage of having no special occasion today to wear this gray wool plaid tie that hasn't been seen (on me) since July 2018 -- on a shirt that lets me show some nice cuff links -- along with my unique tie bar holding one-ninth of a sterling pendant that was delicately monogrammed for our first granddaughter. (The hope is that those of us with the nine parts will be able to come together to celebrate future occasions with Mallie!)

I'm wearing a woolly tie to celebrate "Ram Day" (Bélier, 5 Thermidor) on the French Republican Calendar. Designed during the French Revolution and promoted by the French government in 1793-1805, the Calendar honored agrarian life by associating each day of the year with a plant, animal or farm tool.

Today is National Pancake Day, and so I'm enjoying FREE pancakes at IHOP. But I have no flapjack necktie, so I'm choosing to celebrate "March is Mad About Plaid Month" (according to several Web calendars) by wearing this plaid tie which hasn't been shown since August 2014. The pattern does not match closely any of the tartans shown by The Scotland Shop, but the colors are those of "Clergy Ancient Tartan."

Today's tie is one I have not worn since March 2011. So I guess that makes this a memorable day.

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood! Yesterday was Fred Rogers' birthday (March 20, 1928 – February 27, 2003), and is celebrated as both "Sweater Day" and "Won't You Be My Neighbor? Day." Today's weather is a bit too warm for sweaters, but I'm wearing my cardigan this morning to honor Mr. Rogers!

Fred Rogers was born on 20 March 1928. Today is "Sweater Day," more specifically Mister Rogers Cardigan Day. "Tomorrow, tomorrow, it soon will be tomorrow and be . . . our day! We will say, 'A very happy, tomorrow,' to you!"
