Today is National Wear Red Day, raising awareness of women's heart health issues. My shirt and hair tie are bright red, and this tie's damask-like pattern includes lots of red. I named this tie "royal flair in red and lime."

From the Kingdom of Make-Believe, in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, King Friday XIII was born on 13 November. The year of his birth is uncertain but it had to be a year when 13 November was on a Friday. Although his favorite color is purple, I'm quite sure he would appreciate my ornate paisley tie with my crown tie bar.

6 February 22

 This is the 350th anniversary of Isaac Newton's first presentation to the Royal Society, so I'm wearing s new-to-me tie with a "royal" design! Newton's 1672 paper was titled "A discourse Of Mr Isaac Newton containing his New Theory about Light and Colours." So it would be appropriate to name today "Opticks Day."

Today's tie was chosen by brother (-in-law) birthday-boy Mark Wollenweber, who remains a quintagenarian for another year. (His birthday is 3 January but I didn't wear a tie yesterday.) This is one of five ties I received at Christmas! My collection now reaches about 305 -- it's not an exact number because I'm not sure how to count the brown-paper-bag, ribbon loop, and toilet-paper constructions, and the two reversible Dr. Seuss ties are either two or four.
