Once again we have reached Pea Day, on the French Republican Calendar (Pois, 13 Prairial). I''m happy to show the grinning French Peas and Junior Carrot on this Veggie Tales® tie. On the French Republican Calendar (observed 1793-1805), our date of 1 June was honored as Pea Day (Pois, 13 Prairial). It gives me a good chance to wear my VeggieTales® tie featuring the French Peas and Junior Carrot! In that animated series the French Peas were the soldiers guarding the wall of Jericho (before it fell to the marching Israelites).

The first of June on our calendars was designated Pea Day (Pois, 13th day of Prairial) on the French Republican Calendar. So here are the French Peas from VeggieTales® to help celebrate! I also learned that today is National Heimlich Maneuver Day.

It's Phil Vischer's birthday! Phil (born in 1966) is one of the co-creators of VeggieTales®. My tie features the "French peas" most famous as soldiers in the episodes "Josh and the Big Wall" and "Dave and the Giant Pickle." Phil Vischer has been the voice of the pea named Phillipe. Also peeking out of my tie is Lenny Carrot!

Tomorrow (6 March) marks 89 years since the day Clarence Birdseye first sold frozen peas, through the Birds Eye Frosted Food Company. (I have a different special occasion to celebrate tomorrow). The peas on my tie are the French Peas who patrolled the wall of Jericho in the Veggie Tales® retelling of that Bible story. Junior Carrot is simply there to wonder what's going on.

Today my Veggie Tales® French peas are helping to celebrate frozen peas! Several Web calendars report that Clarence Birdseye first sold frozen peas on this date in 1952. But I found out today that those sources are likely to be incorrect; a more trusted biography of Clarence Birdseye sets the original date as 6 March 1930, in Springfield, MA. So I must update my own calendar of tie-worthy events!

Yesterday (20 July) was the birthday of Gregor Mendel (1822-1884), an Augustinian monk who experimented with the hereditary properties of garden peas. His results became the foundation for modern genetics, and changed forever our thinking about species and "kinds" of organisms. My Veggie Tales® French Peas are happy to come out and celebrate!

Today's tie honors the birthday of Ben Kleppinger, on Friday. He requested "something green — dark green over lighter green if possible." My French Peas tie (from Veggie Tales®) is the best match for that description from my collection!

This is "Pea Day" (13 Prairial) on the old French Republican Calendar, which was used from 1793-1805. Each day in the year was assigned to a crop, a farm animal or a farm implement. I like to wear my Veggie Tales® "French Peas" tie, and we have begun harvesting peas from our own garden!

Today is "Pea Day" on the French Republican Calendar. This was the official calendar in France from 1793-1805, designating a different crop, animal or farm tool for each day of the year. My tie features the French Peas from Veggie Tales®, who first appeared as the Philistines in "Dave and the Giant Pickle" and then as the soldiers atop the wall of Jericho in "Josh and the Big Wall!" Lenny Carrot looks surprised to find himself among so many peas.

My father's family is Pennsylvania Dutch (i.e., German) with some French mixed in, and my mother's family came from England, Scotland and Wales. So I have no Irish heritage. I still chose to wear my greenest tie today . . . it is cross-cultural because the Veggie Tales® peas actually are very French.

Today is the birthday of Phil Vischer, one of the two creators (with Mike Warnocki) of the Veggie Tales® animated characters. I have celebrated Phil's birthday for three days with ties starring Bob the Tomato, Larry the Cucumber, the French Peas and Junior Carrot.

I needed a good excuse to wear one of my Veggie Tales® ties, so we discovered that 11 March marks the anniversary of the 1810 marriage "by proxy" of Emperor Napoleon and Archduchess Marie Louise. This tie celebrates the "French Peas Legionnaires" who ridiculed the Israelites as they marched around Jericho in the Veggie Tales® episode "Josh and the Big Wall." I think the carrot-guy just adds a little extra flavor or je ne sais quoi.

Gregor Mendel, the "father" of modern genetics, was born on July 20, 1822. His experiments with pea plants in an Austrian monastery garden led to an understanding of dominant and recessive inherited traits. This tie stars the Jericho-guarding French Peas from VeggieTales®.
