Every year, 25 March is celebrated as World Tolkien Reading Day. It's sponsored by The Tolkien Society, and this year's theme is "Love and Friendship." The date of the 25th of March was chosen as the date on which the Ring was destroyed, completing Frodo’s quest and vanquishing Sauron. I chose a tie that represents the theme of "rings" nicely. While the Tolkien Society urges us to focus on reading the primary texts, I have taken this opportunity to read some very interesting passages in "The Making of Middle-Earth." It's a book written by Christopher Snyder that covers "everything" about J. R. R. Tolkien's life and works, including detailed explorations of the great movie adaptations by Peter Jackson and others.
