24 September 23

It's. National. Punctuation. Day. Of course that use of periods is nonstandard, but it drew your attention to the effect that punctuation causes in your reading. My tie exclaims "O!" loudly. It was probably originally connected to Oprah Winfrey's magazine, but my grandchildren thought it was an excellent birthday present for me in 2020!!!! I've punctuated my attire with a tie-tack dot, like a period. Didn't you know that my own favorite punctuation mark is the rarely-seen interrobang

. . . O! Yesterday, 24 September, was the annual celebration of National Punctuation Day! Were you careful with quotation marks, commas and semicolons; did you use question marks appropriately? Why can't the interrobang get wider recognition‽ I'll enjoy my tie's exclamation points and think about Lynne Truss' famous book "Eats, Shoots and Leaves: Why Commas Really Do Make a Difference." You can get the point from the first few minutes of an audio reading of the first chapter of the book.

The tie tack's design is the logo from Ties.com; it shows a nice exclamation point when it's turned upside down.

Today is the birthday of my niece Kirsten Rae (Huizenga) Caminiti! I asked her to choose a tie for me to wear, and she responded "I’d love it if you wore 'O! exclamation point' for my birthday. O is for Odd, Off-Center, Orthodox, AND Progressive. (Wait, that starts with P.) I love all of those and love that this tie has only one registered wearing so far. That’s Odd. Beyond that, I find a little too much pleasure in details like punctuation. Exclamation point." My exclamatory tie tack is actually the logo from ties.com, rotated 180 degrees!

It’s National Punctuation Day!!?. It’s a great day to debut this new-to-me tie that simply says “O!”
It may be related to Oprah Winfrey, but I like it for its exclamatory demeanor. Period. #NationalPunctuationDay
