11 April 21

I know that "co-grandfather" is not a recognized genealogical relationship. But today, on Dave Tennill's birthday, I'm celebrating the way we both share lots of love and respect (?) from Jonathan and Courtney's children! My shirt came to me from "Papa Dave," connecting to his work installing Water Furnace® geothermal heating systems. So, Happy Birthday, Papa Dave! As "Papa Seeds" I chose my peppermint stripes tie!

2 March 14

Water from the sky -- Water on my tie -- Fish in the sea -- Mallie with me!
Today is Dr. Seuss' birthday, #110.
(Our weather forecast includes a lot of rain, changing to snow and ice!)

Hooray for some more snow today! I get to wear my musical snowman tie -- it contains a (chirpy) music box that plays "Jingle Bells"!

22 March 12

Today is WORLD WATER DAY, a time designated by the United Nations to reflect on your "water footprint" and on the fact that at least a billion people around the world are chronically hungry and thirsty because we (in the overdeveloped world) absorb so much of the world's water into our food. "The World is Thirsty Because We are Hungry" expresses the theme of World Water Day 2012. My fishy tie has a watery theme, and I'm wearing a blue "Water Furnace" shirt. And blue is also the favorite color of Janet Johnson, one of my EKU friends, whose birthday is March 22!

Shimmering, shiny blue for World Water Day. The "Water Furnace" shirt refers to Courtney Kleppinger's father's geothermal heat pump business.

We don't do the regular "stuff" associated with Halloween, but just for fun I'm going to be "in disguise" today, pretending to be a Water Furnace (geothermal heat) technician, and also let the Pillsbury Doughboy® show up (as Dough Cool, of course).

11 November 09

As exactly one year ago, I am using November 11 to celebrate the Nov. 14 birthday of Peter Norton, original developer of the Norton Utilities programs for computer disk recovery. And again as last year I am wearing a "Water Furnace" company shirt, given to me by Courtney Tennill.

08 April 09

April 8th is famous for the following events, for which I wish I had appropriate ties:
It is also designated for these celebrations:

Having nothing to match any of the options, I chose to make it a red-character day and wear Bob the Tomato (on my Water Furnace-logoed shirt).

Peter Norton, developer of the worthily famous Norton Utilities for disk recovery and computer troubleshooting, was born on November 14, 1943. I don't normally wear a tie on Fridays, so I chose today to show his corporate logo. Symantec Corporation now owns and markets many products under the Norton brand name.

The Water Furnace shirt is not directly related to any Norton (as far as I know), but it has "family ties" to Courtney Tennill, who gave me both the shirt and the Norton tie!
