24 June 08

June 24 is the feast day for "St. John the Baptist" in several Christian churches. It was on this day in 1374 that people in the streets of Aachen, Germany came down with what has been called "St. John's Dance," characterized by fits of spontaneous dancing and screaming, accompanied by hallucinations. This is true! So today's tie lets me scream a little, too.

Today also marks the 41st birthday of my eldest nephew, Curtis Nolan Huizenga. He was recently ordained and installed as associate pastor of White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. I hope he is not screaming about his age!
