Every 10 September is "Blame It On The Large Hadron Collider Day," a time to shift the blame for losing things over to the Large Hadron Collider. The LHC (in Switzerland) was first fired up on 10 September 2008. Since it is capable of creating (very small) black holes, we can use it easily to account for missing keys, socks, twenty-dollar-bills, and so on. This golfing tie was given to me in 2012 but went missing about four years ago. I had intentionally bagged it with a few others to give away, but then the whole bag went into the Large Hadron Collider's black hole, until suddenly a few days ago the bag and its ties were instantly (?) recreated. And so I've recovered it for the next day!
