5 June 22

I asked niece Kirsten Caminiti to select my tie for her birthday today. She said "“I’m choosing "Radar Map in Missouri," because I gravitate to weather-related documentaries; I love tornado docus in particular and also dig the design and color format of radar maps. More, more! God and the created complexity of the flow of energy are truly incredible.” Kirsten and Joseph live near Philadelphia and they both have many activities and occupations related to music. The two radar maps on my tie cover storms in a region near Lake of the Ozarks, southeast of Kansas City, MO. One section runs north-south from Warsaw to Aldrich, and the other from Camdenton to Lebanon. The National Weather Service reports that radar (RAdio Detection And Ranging) has been used since the 1940s to gather weather information and help predict the movement of weather systems. Beth says the green lines on my shirt might represent isobars or isotherms. Is there a term for contours (also known as isopleths) of humidity? By the way, my hair tie is bright red for Pentecost Sunday. Happy Birthday, dear Kirsten!
