Today's tie featuring children dressed for playing all sorts of games honors the memory of Bob Keeshan, famous as television's "Captain Kangaroo." Those who remember Mr. Moose, Bunny Rabbit, Tom Terrific, Grandfather Clock, Dancing Bear and Mr. Green Jeans can all help me celebrate Keeshan's birthday! He was born in 1927 and died in 2004. The television show ran from October 1955 through December 1984 (plus reruns). Of course the early years were purely black-and-white! Bob Keeshan described his Captain Kangaroo character as based on "the warm relationship between grandparents and children."
