Today I'm celebrating the 315th birthday of Johann Georg Klöppinger, my great-great-great-great-great-grandfather! (Of course, I have 64 male ancestors at that generation.) "John George"(1707-1786) emigrated from Pfungstadt, Deutschland (Germany), in 1737. He arrived in Philadelphia and settled in what is now Northampton County, not far from my own origins in Bethlehem. He is the ancestor of virtually everyone in America named Kleppinger or Clippinger or Klepinger (except for some more recent emigrations from Pfungstadt!). My splashy, very wide tie was recently "found" for me, and I think its design includes elements of "heraldry" such as those on our family coat-of-arms. My "K" tie clip was fashioned from one of my mother's brooches.
