Today is National Handwriting Day, honoring the birthday of John Hancock (1737-1793). When he signed the Declaration of Independence he wrote with letters large enough for the King of England to read without glasses, and people today sometimes ask for you to add "your John Hancock" on a signature line. My own penmanship is quite poor, but I remember clearly lots of third-grade practice (with "Miss Welch," at Lincoln Elementary School) drawing cursive letters like those on my tie. Calendar math for today, 23 January 2022: 23 - 1 = 22.
