Today I'm wearing my "melting clocks" tie, based on the artwork of Salvador Dalí, to honor the birthdays of Seth Thomas (1785-1859) and Edward John Dent (1790-1853). Seth Thomas was an American manufacturer and pioneer in the mass production of clocks, and Edward John Dent was the British clockmaker for Queen Victoria and was commissioned to design "Big Ben."
