Yesterday (20 July) is designated by National Day Calendar as
National Pennsylvania Day! The idea is that each state gets a "Day," spread over the weeks of the year, beginning after Independence Day, in the order by which they entered the Union. So National Delaware Day was last week (13 July), and the Second State (Pennsylvania) gets 20 July. (The choice of 9 days after 4 July to start the series seems to be arbitrary.) No matter what explanation is given, I have a good reason to wear my Pennsylvania "PA" tie! The front design uses the letters P-A as a window over the official state seal, and the main color matches the teal on the seal.
