02 March 11

Today marks the 107th birthday of Dr. Seuss (Theodore Seuss Geisel), famous writer of children's books like The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who! and Green Eggs and Ham. One of my own favorites is a story sketched out by Seuss before his death (in 1991) and completed by Jack Prelutsky and Lane Smith, Hooray for Diffendoofer Day! It celebrates the wacky learning styles encouraged by zany teachers and staff at "Diffendoofer School," where standardized tests are merely an afterthought (literally) rather than the impetus. I have no tie specifically related to Dr. Seuss' writings, but Bob the Tomato (from Veggie Tales®) wanted to help me honor this day.
