This year on 10 July I missed celebrating Bahamian Independence Day, so I'll wear my Bahamas flag tie today to honor Emancipation Day (yesterday). In 1834, slaves in the British Empire were freed. In
The Bahamas, the day is "celebrated with a Junkanoo Rush-out, a day of
beaching, sailing, and regattas." Today I'm enjoying my free birthday-week lunch from Newk's Eatery, and the cup and straw match my shirt and tie!
