29 December 25

The brief flurries of tiny snowflakes this morning fully justify wearing my absurd snowpeople tie! The pictures include an alien with slanted eyes, an urban model covered with dirt and graffiti, a "bloated" figure with a huge body, a "middle-aged" snowman with a bulging gut, a snow-deer (with antlers) and a triplet of "snow clones," along with a plain old snowman.

16 January 24

For his birthday today (16 January), Ben Kleppinger asked me to wear my absurd snowpeople tie -- because of all the snow we got in the last few days! My snowpeople are an alien with slanted eyes, an urban model covered with dirt and graffiti, a "bloated" figure with a huge body, a "middle-aged" snowman with a bulging gut, a snow-deer (with antlers) and a set of "snow clones," along with a plain old snowman. Our bird feeders have been quite popular with the winged crowd.

20 January 22

Snow in January is not an absurdity in Central Kentucky, but the snowpeople on my tie are patently absurd. EKU is on "Plan A" today, which means we are working in the virtual world, which some schools refer to as "Non-Traditional Instruction." My snowpeople are an alien with slanted eyes, an urban model covered with dirt and graffiti, a "bloated" figure with a huge body, a "middle-aged" snowman with a bulging gut, a snow-deer (with antlers) and a set of "snow clones."

Beth Kleppinger chose this tie for me to wear today because we are hoping for snow for her birthday (tomorrow). It shows many snowpeople, one plain snowman and a bunch of absurd characters: an alien with slanted eyes, an urban model covered with dirt and graffiti, a "bloated" figure with a huge body, a "middle-aged" snowman with a bulging gut, a snow-deer (with antlers) and a set of "snow clones." We saw some white stuff on some nearby roofs and decided to call it snow, but it will be better if the flurries in the forecast for tonight pan out.

21 May 19

I know it's absurd to wear a snowman tie in the middle of May -- except that our weather is about to shift into the first hot days of 2019, so remembering winter is timely. My tie features absurd snow figures like Alien (with slanted eyes), Middle-Aged (with a big bulging tummy), Urban (covered in dirt and graffiti), Clones (identical triplets) and Snowdeer (with antlers) snowpeople. After nearly two years in hiding, it was time to show this tie!

3-4 August 17

Tomorrow is my 64th birthday! Since I eschew knotted kneckwear on Fridays, I've chosen this personal-favorite tie for today. I didn't get to wear it at all last winter because we never had "winter" at all. It features totally absurd snowpeople like "Snow-deer" (with antlers), "Bloated Snowman" (who is super-fat), "Alien" (with bulging angled eyes), "Middle-aged Snowman" (with big belly fat), and "Urban Snowman" (covered with graffiti and trash). I think the trio of "Snow Clones" is singing Happy Birthday to me! By the way, I happily share my birthday with Queen Mother Elizabeth (1900-2002), Louis Armstrong (1901-1971) and Barack Obama (1961-).

21 January 16

Hooray for snow! I get to wear one of my snowpeople ties today because we got two or three inches of snow yesterday! And in my personal world, I successfully cleared space in the garage for the car, so I don't need to brush/scrape snow/ice before driving to work! My tie features absurd snowpeople like the Snow Clones, the Alien Snowman, Snow-Deer, the dirty and trashed Urban Snowman, and the beer-bellied Middle-Aged Snowman.

10 February 15

Our snowy days have been exceptionally sparse this winter, so I'll have to grab every possible opportunity to wear my snowpeople ties. We had a dusting this morning in Kentucky. (But people in the Boston, MA area seem to be having a wonderful winter!) Today's tie features "absurd" snowpeople like the Snow Clones, the Alien Snowman, Snow-Deer, the dirty and trashed Urban Snowman, and the beer-bellied Middle-Aged Snowman.

These absurd snowpeople wanted to help me celebrate my summertime birthday!

11 January 11

Today's date (1/11/11 or 11/1/11) is the second time this century when the date contains only ones. We get two more chances to celebrate that in November. I have no appropriate tie for that occurrence, but I do have a great "absurd snowmen" tie that fits the weather very well. Some of the figures are an urban snowman (covered with graffiti), an alien snowman (with the usual pointed head and slit eyes), a snowdeer (with antlers), a middle-aged snowman (with a huge overhanging gut), and the snow clones (three identical snowmen).

26 January 09

Another cold and snowy day, well suited for my "absurd snowmen" tie. The details include "Snow Clones," "Middle-aged Snowman," "Urban Snowman," "Alien Snowman" and "Bloated Snowman."
