6 February 26

Isaac Newton (1643-1727) presented his first paper to the Royal Society on 6 February 1672. It was his "New Theory about Light and Colours," describing early experiments to define and measure what we call the electromagnetic spectrum. His major book on light and colors, "Opticks," was published in 1704. My tie has great bright stripes!

Today I have been a grandfather for TEN YEARS! My original granddaughter Mallie loves rainbows and asked me to wear this tie because rainbows are so colorful! My tie bar includes one portion of a monogram-medallion created from her initials.

For no special reason I'm wearing my rainbow stripes tie today! Our weather forecast includes rain but the sky will be densely covered all day, plus haze from the current wildfires in Canada, so I doubt we will see celestial rainbows. Rainbow research has identified 12 distinct types of rainbows.

Today we are beginning our celebrations for Mallie's 8th birthday! She is my O. G. (Original Grandchild). Mallie loves rainbows, and she now considers this tie to be her "traditional" choice for this date! I've worn it or the rainbow-dots alternate for her each time since 2017. My tie bar holds one-ninth of a medallion bearing her monogram, created when she was newborn and shared out to me and other close relations and friends. Recent special events in her life include new permanent front teeth and a wonderful first-time camp experience (for "rising third graders") at Aldersgate Camp.

Today we are finally having our family party to celebrate daughter Amanda Wheeler's birthday (from March 28!) She asked me to wear my rainbow stripes tie, and I've tied it with the "Ellie" knot, on a shirt with her favorite color! She noted an additional reason for rainbow stripes could be the Pride celebration (in virtual life) yesterday in Louisville.

Mallie Jayden Elizabeth Kleppinger is SIX YEARS OLD today! She chose this bright rainbow tie for me to wear, as soon as she saw it. (As she did last year!) Mallie wears a beautiful, happy smile all the time, and she loves to play with her three brothers. When I met her today she was wearing a dress that matched the color of my shirt!

The Rainbow tie! That was Mallie's instant choice when I showed her my collection, to choose the one I should wear today, for our family celebration of her fifth birthday (which is tomorrow).

Mallie Jayden Elizabeth Kleppinger turns FOUR YEARS OLD today! When her daddy asked if she knew what tie I should wear, she said "A rainbow one!" and so I was happy to oblige. Becoming a grandfather has been a very happy experience for me.

Happy Birthday, brother Mark Wollenweber! I didn't give you the chance to choose my tie, but I'm betting you will enjoy these rainbow stripes, recently presented to me by Amanda.
