I have a committee meeting today for Berea Home Village, so I observe my tradition of wearing a necktie. I have chosen my hibiscus flowers tie, which comes with a hidden bonus of hula dancers (upside down) on the tie's tail!

10 March 23
It's a very cool day in central Kentucky, but it's still "Festival of Life in the Cracks Day," celebrating the first signs of spring. My tie shows pretty hibiscus flowers (and you cannot see the hula dancers on the tail of the tie). I found some new life in a sidewalk/curb crack!

This is one of at least two National Flower Days. This tie is covered with pretty hibiscus flowers in many colors, and the tail of the tie shows hula dancers! By the way, today is Desmond Tutu's 90th birthday, and is also National LED Light Day (celebrating the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics, awarded to the developers of LED lights in the blue range, the most difficult wavelengths to produce. What would life with Alexa be like without blue lights?). Chemists can celebrate the birthday of Niels Bohr (1885-1962).

It's National Flower Day! (Just like the one that blooms on 21 March every spring!) Our yard is full of white and purple asters, along with goldenrod. My tie is covered with hibiscus flowers, and it has a special feature (hidden from most views) showing hula dancers (with hibiscus leis) on the tail.
