Beth and I have now been married for 50 years! On Saturday (9 August) we celebrated with an excellent dinner at Papaleno's in Berea, and on Sunday (10 August) we had a family celebration at Outback Steakhouse in Richmond. I borrowed Jonathan's gold circles tie, and I added my gold "K" tie clip (which was crafted from one of my mother's pins). The extra photo captures the moment in 1975 when I carried Beth "over the threshold" on our way out to our honeymoon trip. My tie for that occasion appears to have been plain old boring solid brown.

Happy Birthday to my brother Dick Kleppinger (today) and to my great friend Mustapha Jourdini (yesterday)! Dr. Jourdini selected this tie for me to wear today because "the circles of gold symbolize the cyclical nature of life; nothing ever stays the same. I need to be reminded constantly that any hardships I may encounter in life are simply temporary and are bound to change; all I need to do is hold fast to my faith in God, do my best, and things will eventually change for better."

This was my "second" Father's Day, when both of my sons could be with me. The tie belongs to Jonathan and was his choice for me today.
