Celebrating All Saints' Day 2023 by wearing a tie from the collection of my father-in-law Robert Wollenweber (1925-2016), a very wonderful, special saint in my own life. He was an exemplary father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pastor, missionary, pastor, office manager, pastor, Prison Fellowship state director, Bible teacher, missionary, hospice volunteer and friend.

Repeating a tie I wore less than a month ago -- at the special request of Joel Kleppinger to celebrate his third birthday! Last year he chose a tie with many "beep-beeps" (cars), but this time he wanted something RED and decided this was the right one. It originally belonged to Great Grandpa Robert Wollenweber.

Today our family is honoring the memory of Robert Frederick Wollenweber (1925-2016) who was born on this date 97 years ago. I'm wearing a Pendleton® wool plaid tie that originally belonged to my wonderful father-in-law. He received it as part of a set of tartan accessories (from Beth) at Christmas, 1990. The extra photo shows him with the coordinating cap and scarf! His wife Wilma, their children Beth, Faith and Mark, several of their grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives have fond memories of this man. His occupations include pastor, father, pastor, missionary, office manager, pastor, pastor, state director for Prison Fellowship, grandfather, great-grandfather!

Why is Gene wearing a Pendleton® 100% wool tie on a hot day in August? Why, because it is National Secondhand Wardrobe Day! This snazzy tartan plaid tie originally belonged to my father-in-law Robert Wollenweber, and I'm very happy to sport it today.

Today is "National Father-in-Law Day." I'm wearing a Pendleton® wool plaid tie that originally belonged to my own wonderful father-in-law Robert Frederick Wollenweber (1925-2016). 23 April is celebrated annually as English Language Day, selected by the United Nations because it is traditionally the birthday and the death-day of William Shakespeare (1564-1616). I'm wearing my Pendleton® tartan plaid tie to remind us all about Macbeth, King of Scotland (around 1040-1057), and the tragedy Shakespeare created around his life and death. This tartan comes close to the designs known as Lennox Modern and Macrae Red Modern, displayed at the Tartan Finder page from the Scotland Shop.

To celebrate "Tolkien Reading Day," I've chosen this tartan plaid tie, for its British theme. The Tolkien Society designated 25 March because that was the date of Sauron's Fall, according to the Shire Reckoning.

Today is St. Augustine's birthday; he was born in 354 CE and died in 430. I don't think I have a tie appropriate for him, so I'm debuting another tie from my father-in-law's collection. This was one of several matching Pendleton® accessories Beth gave her father over twenty years ago. On the Tartan Finder page from the Scotland Shop this pattern appears to be most like either the Lennox Modern or the Macrae Red Modern tartans; if you find a closer match, please let me know! The safety pin symbolizes my solidarity with others who want to guarantee safety and protection to those who are fearful living in our society.
