The third day of the Anthology Together conference (AT23) falls on the 124th anniversary of the discovery of the Rosetta Stone. For the full story behind my Rosetta Stone hieroglyphs tie, see last year's blog post. Today I also wore my EKU "swoosh logo" tie during some award presentations, but the most special event is the Anthology Client Appreciation Party, held in downtown Nashville at the Wildhorse Saloon. For the country-and-western ambience I am wearing my Cac-Tie! It's nice to have an event where that is entirely appropriate!

Happy Birthday, Mary Lou Stephens! Mary Lou is a dear friend from Richmond First United Methodist Church. She and her husband Allan (1940-2010) have been great fans of the "Riders in the Sky" musical comedy troupe, and today I'm happy to wear this Cac-Tie from Allan's collection. It's famous as the stage accessory worn by "Too Slim," the bass player in that group.

Time for the Cac-tie! The original owner of the tie, Allan Durand Stephens, was born on this date in 1940. Its style was made famous by "Too Slim," the bass player in the musical comedy team Riders in the Sky, and it's a favorite of Allan's wife Mary Lou Stephens. Among the other hundreds of millions born today: my father, Arthur Jeremiah Kleppinger (1916-2004), my EKU Information Technology comrade Jonathan Sikora, and a certain 11-year-old young woman named Rylynn! I am personally happy to celebrate St. Eugene's Day.

This fun tie is here today to help celebrate the birthday of my "church lady" friend Mary Lou Stephens! She and her husband Allan have been fans of the musical comedy team "Riders In The Sky," where bass player "Too Slim" wears his trademark cactus tie. So this is my own Cac-tie, from Allan's collection, and it's one of Mary Lou's top favorites. I think it's a real puzzle whether it is possible to have a single Cac-tie.
