Today's "Snoopy checkerboard" tie helps celebrate the birthday of Peanuts® creator Charles Schulz, on 26 November (1922-2000). But I learned that the day before Thanksgiving is called "Tie One On Day," referring specifically to the need to tie an apron on when you want to prepare food for this special family time. And of course I like the extra reference to "ties." So Beth and I are wearing our aprons today -- as we roast our turkey and make side dishes. (My apron says "Gene Cooks Philosophically.") We cannot gather tomorrow with our usual group of 15-20 people from six or seven households this year, so today we are sharing out the turkey and stuffing and assorted sides with our Madison County families, and then we will be Zooming together around lunchtime on Thanksgiving Day!
