It's Donkey Day (Âne, 15 Vendémiaire) on the French Republican Calendar. (It was invented after the French Revolution to produce a calendar that avoided references to religious and mythical figures. This date was associated with the well-known farm animal.) I'm wearing my Winnie-the-Pooh tie that features Eeyore along with Pooh, Tigger and Rabbit. In Ernest Shepard's illustrations for A. A. Milne's books, Eeyore is shown in gray, and his tail is attached to his body with a nail. In Disney's later animations he is also shown in gray. He is blue in some commercial merchandise.
