Feeling very blue today -- in a good, slightly risqué way. Tomorrow (26 September) is the birthday of George Gershwin (1898-1937), composer of "Rhapsody in Blue." According to some history, "Gershwin originally called his piece 'American Rhapsody' until [brother] Ira suggested changing it; even then 'blue' was slang for music unafraid to show its more risqué side. It appeared late in a program that stretched a Tuesday afternoon into several hours." So my shiny blue tie on a blue pinstripe shirt is appropriate!
