I'm wearing my patchwork-quilt tie because the events to celebrate today are so diverse:

• It's National Toilet Paper Day (and I am not making a toilet paper tie)
• In 1789 the National Constituent Assembly of France approved the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen
• In 1920 the 19th Amendment to the Constitution took effect, giving women the right to vote
• Birthday of French chemist Antoine Lavoisier (1743), Queen Victoria's consort Prince Albert (1819), and Indian nun and missionary Mother Teresa (1910)
• Feast Day for Melchizedek, the Biblical "King of Salem" who knew Abraham (honored on the calendar of the Roman Catholic Church)

(This makes a kind of tradition for me -- I wore this tie and gave this explanation on this date in 2016!)
