This tie needs some explaining! It was a Christmas gift from Mom (Wilma Wollenweber) who discovered it as a tribute to my birth-home state of Pennsylvania (PA). The image that is masked through the capital letters is the Great Seal of the State of Pennsylvania. I'm wearing it today because tomorrow (Friday) has been declared National Pennsylvania Day by the National Day Calendar. Their idea is to honor each of the 50 states, one state per week for the whole year, in the order they were admitted to the Union! The tributes begin during the week after Independence Day, so Pennsylvania -- as state #2 -- gets honored this Friday. National Kentucky Day (for state #15) will come up on 19 October. And so on, through National Hawaii Day next July.
