National Frog Jumping Day is celebrated on 13 May every year. It honors Mark Twain's 1865 short story "
The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County," which was his first great success as a writer. Calaveras County, California, has held public frog-jumping events since 1893, culminating in this year's edition of the
Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee on 17-20 May. My frogs tie was a birthday present from grandson Nate in 2016. I know today is also Mother's Day, but our family's observance has been delayed until all our mothers and children can participate, currently set for 27 May!
