On this date in 1769, frontiersman Daniel Boone (1734-1820) first began exploring the valleys and forests of the present day Bluegrass State of Kentucky. Boone founded the village of Boonesborough, Kentucky which is one of the first American settlements west of the Appalachians. To celebrate National Boone Day I'm wearing my gray/blue "mountains" tie and visiting the Daniel Boone statue at Eastern Kentucky University.
