7 August 16

Why is 7 August National Lighthouse Day? Because it was on this date in 1789 that Congress approved the Lighthouse Act,  providing for "the establishment and support of lighthouse, beacons, buoys and public piers" (along the Atlantic Coastline). This great tie, named "Sentinels" by designer Erich Holch, has just been added to my collection as a birthday gift from my sister Faith.
