The Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dalí was born on this date in 1904. His full name was Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, Marqués de Dalí de Pubol. Many of his paintings feature "melting clocks" -- representing the flexibility of time -- and I have a humorous model of such a clock in my office (and another one at home!). My tie's design is based on "The Persistence of Memory."
