Today's tie anticipates the anniversary (on Saturday) of the announcement in 1953 by James Watson and Francis Crick of the "double helix" structure of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). (We must also recognize Rosalind Franklin for her crucial participation in the project!) The stripes on my tie actually represent the details obtained from "sequencing" the amino acids in the DNA molecule, through the lab method called gel electrophoresis. Yes, this is a VERY "geeky" tie, and I'm glad to use this occasion to premiere a wonderful Christmas present.

One source for this tie, with many other DNA-related choices, is The DNA Store.
