Today marks the birthday of Leroy Anderson (1908-1975), American composer of "short, light concert pieces" including Sleigh Ride and The Syncopated Clock. Choral singers and band directors are very familiar with Sleigh Ride for the jing-jing-jingling bells, clever sound effects and the ending horse whinny. Giddy-up, giddy-up, giddy up, let's go! (Except that it's not actually "lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you" right now!)
