I am one month late celebrating the birthday of Bartolomeo Cristofori di Francesco, who is generally regarded as the inventor of the piano. He was born on May 4, 1655. (I looked up the wrong "fourth" while choosing my tie!) You can find out more history of Cristofori's instruments here.
