Today I leave on a week long mission trip, co-leading a group of five youth (middle and high school girls) to a house work project in Beattyville, KY. David Anderson and I are the "adults" who will coordinate some painting and paneling. We are staying at Burnamwood Camp and Conference Center, a Presbyterian camp near Irvine. Our work site is about an hour away. My tie expresses some of my feelings about this event. The dove-of-peace pendant is a gift from Nicholasville Presbyterian Church, and for me it symbolizes well the words from Charles Wesley's hymn: "Jesus, the name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease . . . "
