Happy 16th Web Independence Day! As I explained one year ago, April 30th is special because it marks the day in 1993 when Tim Berners-Lee received the declaration from CERN (the particle physics laboratory where he worked) that the protocols and basic code for what we call the Web would be distributed free of charge.
