02 February 09

February is National Canned Food Month. I was recently given this great "soup to nuts" tie, and this is the first appropriate occasion to wear it. According to one well-preserved Web source, some people celebrate this month by clearing out all the outdated cans in their kitchens, while others take this month as a great opportunity to shop for new products. It's very important to maintain a full inventory of canned foods because (this authority says) "you can always pull out a can of something and make a concoction." To find out even more about the many virtues of canned food, visit the Web site devoted entirely to the topic, Mealtime.org.

Yes, it's the same shirt as worn on 26 January. It just looked right for the tie (and it had been washed). By the way, I had no ties to report from 27 January through 01 February because a major winter storm forced Eastern Kentucky University to close for almost a whole week, and also caused Nicholasville Presbyterian Church to cancel Sunday services!
