John Wesley, prime mover (with his brother Charles) of Methodism, was born on this date in 1703. Today also marks the 110th birthday of M. C. Escher, "a Dutch graphic artist, most recognized for spatial illusions, impossible buildings, repeating geometric patterns (tessellations), and his incredible techniques in woodcutting and lithography" (
http://www.worldofescher.com/). I don't have an Escher tie (yet), but I'm sure he would have enjoyed this one. (We don't know anything about John Wesley's preferences in novelty ties.)

Here's an Escher print titled "Mosaic II," from 1957.
