Today is National Lighthouse Day. It was on this date in 1789 that Congress approved the Lighthouse Act,  providing for "the establishment and support of lighthouse, beacons, buoys and public piers" (along the Atlantic Coastline). This great tie, named "Sentinels" by designer Erich Holch, was a birthday gift several years ago from my sister Faith Lang, who loves lighthouses.
